Elaine Goldstein and Doris Gresser:
Sisters And Best Friends
Only two years apart in age, Elaine Goldstein and her sister Doris Gresser have always been close to one another. When they lived in Pikesville, their homes were just minutes away. Now that they live at Vantage House, they’re just doors apart on the same floor.
They eat dinner together almost every evening. It’s their dinner companions who change, depending on the night. And they’re both busy. Elaine served as the president of the Vantage House Residents’ Association for the 2003–2005 term, and Doris serves on several committees.
In fact, the women are so busy they're always checking their calendars to see when they have free time. And that is devoted to family and cultural pursuits. They both have season tickets for the Baltimore Symphony. And they rarely miss a lecture, concert or movie at Vantage House. "Oh yes, and I play a lot of Bridge," says Elaine. "I'm learning duplicate Bridge and play rubber Bridge."
A woman of the new millennium, Elaine instant messages her grandson, emails, does research on the Web and checks on the day's stock market activity. “Our move to Vantage House fits our needs at this time of our life,” she says. “We feel independent and are content with our decision to live here.”
