The people who live here know Vantage House better than anyone. So what better endorsement could we offer than the words of some very happy residents?
An Active Lifestyle
Ask residents of Vantage House, and many will tell you they wish they’d moved in sooner.
“Retirement? I don’t know the meaning of that word,” laughs Bobbi Fagan, a long-time Columbia resident and former school administrator.
She and her husband, Marty, sold their house and moved to Vantage House several years ago and have never looked back.
Bobbi serves on several Vantage House committees, and Marty is active in the Rotary Club. She enjoys her fitness classes and walks with friends. And a typical afternoon for the Fagans might include a Peabody concert or Mel Goodman lecture on international affairs in the Vantage House auditorium. They’re also regulars at the Columbia Film Society. After the film, their group gets together for a bite to eat in the Vantage House café.
“It wasn’t easy to make the move, but it was so much the right thing to do,” Bobbi says. “We feel so fortunate to be able to continue to enjoy the beauty of Columbia, as well as all the urban advantages.”
While leaving the home where you’ve lived for decades isn’t easy, most CCRCs provide services that make the move less difficult than it may seem.
For instance, Vantage House offers financial concierge services that provide lines of credit and home loans so you can move in, even before your home is sold. And a move-coordinator is available to do everything from helping you decide which possessions to keep, sell or give away and what furniture will work best in your new residence, to recommending professionals who specialize in organizing, prioritizing and packing.
